WHO IS MAC?

The inital interest meeting of The Maryland Association of Cytology took place in 1966 and the organization became official in 1968. The MAC is a non-profit organization geared to excellence in cytology practice, continued education and the collegiate exchange of new informational concepts in cytology and molecular science. 
Mission
 
To promote the highest ethical and professional standards of those in cytology

To increase knowledge of and competence in cytology by providing continuing education opportunities. 

To provide an arena for mutual exchange of information and concepts in cytology.

To encourage participation and active involvement in cytology.

Dinner Meetings
 
Each year, the MAC has four dinner meetings scheduled with a guest speaker.
 
Topics for the guest speaker range from current cytology practices to proposed ideas and concepts demanded by quality improvement and quality assurance standards. 
 
Dinner meetings are held in September, November, March and May on the second Wednsday of the month from 5:30 - 8p.

Scholarship/Awards
 
Every two years, the MAC awards an active member a $1000 grant towards continuing education in cytology.
